The Nonsensical Bird (2025)
“The Nonsensical Bird” is a project that began with a simple request to ChatGPT: “Write a poem about a nonsensical bird.”
Based on the AI-generated poem, I imagined a bird that exists only in fantasy, and sought to express its absurdity and quiet sorrow through rhythm and movement.
Some scenes in the animation were created using the AI video generation tool Sora, then edited and restructured to fit the narrative.
Interestingly, one of these AI-generated scenes appears alongside the poem’s line: “one sang of the past.”

This moment brings forth a curious question: Can an image created by AI ever become someone’s “past”?
It raises an ironic reflection on whether things that never truly existed—yet are formed through technology and imagination—can be remembered, interpreted, or preserved as if they had been real.

Ultimately, this scene becomes more than a visual element. It is both an experiment and a proposition—an exploration of the blurry boundaries between reality and artificiality, past and future, memory and creation.
